The Esat 2 subsea cable runs from Sandymount in Dublin to Southport in the UK (225km). The company was responsible for the planning, route design and development of a cable station at Southport. The company also supervised the subsea cable installation and the installation at both landfalls.
In the case of the landfall at Sandymount, a flat-bottom barge was used to sit on the drying foreshore. This enabled the beach section of the subsea cable to be installed securely and with minimum disturbance with the subsea plough being pulled in the dry from the barge.
