Jim McMahon

Jim is a director and founder of MDM.

Jim has over 25 years’ experience in the telecoms industry and brings a unique level of innovation in the development of projects. He has extensive knowledge of the telecoms industry and telecoms infrastructure throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Jim has a wealth of experience in developing and managing large scale infrastructure projects including, the Dublin T-50 telecom metropolitan network and also on the design and project development of 40 metropolitan area networks (MANS) throughout Ireland. He was a founder of Sea Fibre Networks and was responsible for the design, finance and build of the first merchant subsea fibre optic cable between Ireland and the UK. Through acquisition and investment in 2014 / 2015 Sea Fibre Networks merged into AquaComms and Jim become part of the leadership team holding the position of Company Secretary and Senior Project Director. Jim was instrumental in the development and delivery of the AEC cable (Dublin to New York). In more recent years he was key to the project development of the Rockabill Cable System (Ireland to UK), the Scylla Cable System (UK to the Netherlands) and the IRIS Cable System (Ireland to Iceland).

Jim holds a degree in quantity surveying and construction economics from Trinity College Dublin and throughout his career he has sustained full operational and managerial responsibility.
